Straight Laced

Being a gigantic person with a recent foot injury, I tend to keep my footwear to flats these days. Long gone are the college days where I could rock heels for 8 hours at a time (or avoid a hangover, for that matter).

Anyway, I don't claim to know much about fashion, but I have been loving the lace up flats that have been popping up everywhere lately for fall. See some of my favorites below.

Fashion From Across the Pond

One of the (only) perks of my job is that it takes me to the UK for work a few times a year. As a result, I've been lucky to get exposed to some UK brands that I wouldn't have discovered otherwise. Shopping these sites pretty much guarantees you won't show up to a party wearing the same thing as anyone else-- crisis averted.

Product Praise

I'm one of those girls that goes into Target to buy dog food and leaves with $100 dollars worth of cosmetics. Sephora is a complete danger zone. To me, beauty salvation is only one product away. Much to my bank account's dismay, I have to admit that I'm every marketing person's dream girl.

I've learned the hard way that you don't have to spend thousands on Chanel makeup to get a quality product. Here are some of my beauty must haves- some high end, some available at CVS.

1. Cocoa Contour Chiseled Kit This product will get you dangerously close to Kardashian style contouring. By FAR better than any bronzer I've used. It blends easily without a fancy brush, it also comes with a "countouring for dummies" type instruction set. Win/win.

2. Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara This is legit mascara. No clumps. Minimal coats to produce a glam look. All systems go.

3. Nude Lust Maybelline Color Sensations Seriously though. Run, don't walk to CVS for this nude lip color. I have tried Mac, Tom Ford, and Marc Jacobs nude colors and this is so.much.better. Add a pink gloss on top of this and you will get compliments all night. You won't be sorry.

4. Drybar Flex Hairspray - I LOVE Drybar's blowouts, but most of their products leave me underwhelmed. This hairspray, however, is a total game changer. It has their signature scent and out performs any hairspray I've ever tried. Get you some.

5. Caviar Duo Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner-  I know Oribe products are really trendy right now, but this duo is WAY better. The scent is incredible and it leaves my dry, thick mane feeling soft and glam.

6. Trader Joe's Tea Tree body wash I have noticed a huge difference in my skin after using this stuff. Especially for those of you who work out, tea tree oil does wonders for preventing break outs. Plus, it really wakes you up!
7. Smashbox Primer- It's a crime not to prime. This is a fan favorite for a reason. I have yet to find something better.

8. Color Riche La Palette Nude 2- Great alternative to the Naked palette for half the price.

9. Sea Waves Salt Spray- Forget the Bumble+Bumble, this stuff is good.

10. It's a 10 Miracle Serum This is great for before you style your locks. It gives you that professional grade shine and softness while protecting from heat.

Well Read

Back when I lived in DC, all of our good friends got together once a month for a book club. Never once did we actually assign or read a book, it was just an excuse to get together and drink way too much wine on a week night. Here are some easy reads that I think would've been hits with the book club if we had decided to read something other than wine labels. Read these by the pool before we're eyeballs deep in pumpkins spice lattes and puffy vests.

PS. I starred the ones that you will like if you loved Gone Girl

Good in Bed

Get your mind out of the gutter, folks. This isn't your most recent edition of Cosmo (Does anyone read Cosmo anyway??)-- I'm here to talk to you about bedding. Let's forget the boring stuff like mattress quality and down pillows for now. I am all about pretty over practical today.

One thing is for sure, the kind of bedding I dream about is pricey (I'm look at you  Leontine and Matouk), but my husband put his foot down when I suggested we outfit all three of our guest rooms in luxury bedding.

One day.

Here are some places that might not jump to mind immediately when it comes to bedding, but offer a stylish selection. And good news, all of these places have great basics that can be monogrammed to achieve that luxury look.

Did you know Land's End had bedding? You're welcome.

These look SO similar to Matouk

Hey, What's Up, Hello

So..

I started a blog. We'll see how this goes.

Disclaimer: I am not (by ANY means) an expert on any subject that I will be posting about.

I started this blog because I needed a creative outlet, a happy place, and a way to document life's happenings. I named it Blowouts + Bubbly because these top the list of my favorite frivolous things.

Glad we cleared that up. Stay tuned.
